Iron Sharpens Iron

Iron sharpens iron in the fire of the flame,
Two battered blades made better through the breaking and the pain. As men we are called to encourage one another’s fight, To speak life in the darkness, to guard each other’s light. We were never meant to bleed alone, to fall without a hand, God forges us as brothers by His strong and steady plan.

As men we are called to encourage one and another still, To stand when knees are shaking, to strengthen failing will. When shame begins its shouting and the night won’t let us sleep, A brother stays in prayer, promises he’ll keep.
We sharpen not with silence, not with words that tear apart, But truth wrapped up in mercy, aimed straight at the heart.

We are called to put on the full armor of our King,
Every piece a promise, every piece a holy thing.
The belt of truth holds tight when the lies begin to bind, The breastplate of righteousness guards the fragile mind. Our feet are fit with gospel peace, prepared for war and way, To walk in grace and courage every hard-fought day.

The shield of faith is lifted when the fiery arrows fly, When fear is pounding rhythms and the soul begins to cry. The helmet of salvation crowns the battlefield of thought, Proclaiming we are purchased by the blood our Savior bought.
The Spirit’s sword, the living Word, cuts chains and lights the way, Speaking hope into the dark, turning night to day.

So shoulder close we march through loss, through sorrow, through the strain, Through valleys filled with questions, through the ache and through the rain. Iron sharpens iron through the friction and the fire, God refining faithful men, purifying true desire. Until we lay our armor down at Jesus’ wounded feet, Sharpened by His love alone made whole, made strong, and complete.
